Abstract

Mechanization in cutting rice straw, prewetting, stacking and turning for preparation of mushroom compost has reduced man-power greatly about 88.6% to conventional method. The optimum period of composting through the mechanization was 15 to 20 days in spring and 10 to 12 days in autumn and it shortened the duration of composting 3 to 5 days having same physico-chemical characteristics of compost and same in mushroom yields, in comparison with conventional method.
