Abstract

Rice straw is an abundant roughage in Senegal. For the present, 150,000 tons are available and this quantity is to be doubled in next ten years.

In the first part of this work, the authors report the results of many various experiments including chemical analysis, in vivo and in vitro digestibilities, nitrogen and mineral balances, performed in veterinary Dakar laboratory in order to obtain the main data for a complete and economical use of this roughage.
