Abstract

An irrigated village in Punjab, Pakistan was studies in order to assess the energy needs and available resources. More than one-half of the energy consumed in the village was utilized by the domestic sector. Traditional sources of energy provided 90% of domestic energy requirements. Energy needs for farming were mostly met from diesel and electricity. Only 12% of the farmers used draught animals for cultivation.
