Abstract

For utilizing rice straw as a raw material of biogas, a household unit biogas pant consisted of a 3m3 batch digester with P.V.C.-Dome and 1m3 P.V.C.-Bag type gas holder has been designed and operated in aim to solve the difficulty in using the past biogas plant at low temperature during winter season.

This newly designed biogas plant began to produce biogas at the 3rd day after feeding 300kg of rice straw and 600kg of cow manure and continue to produce biogas enough to cook for a family of five persons for about 3 months in summer and 2 months under the condition piling and composting the mixture of rice straw and chicken manure around the digester.
