Abstract

Experience has shown that biomass fuels require special consideration in thermal conversion process. Gasification, gas clean-up and boiler components of a small power plant have been tested. Removal of ash in the low-Btu gas in critical to burning this gas in a fire-tube boiler at high temperatures without severe slagging and fouling problems. This concept is considered to be the most technically feasible approach to power generation using slagging type biomass fuels.
