Abstract

CONCISE GENERAL SUMMARY OF CURRENT YEAR'S RESULTS:

Operational testing of a fluidized bed gas producer has resulted in making sixteen modifications and additions to the system. These changes in the system should permit sustained operation to gasify a range of fuels from almond shell screenings to a mixture of rice straw cubes and chopped rice straw. Baled rice straw that has been stored in the open and partially subjected to rainy winter weather has been prepared as fuel for a fluidized bed gas producer. This experience should ensure the cost-effectiveness of system design to provide such a fuel starting with baled rice straw stored under dry conditions.
