Abstract

At a power plant in U.S.S.R. several series of tests have been made with straw as fuel in gas producers. The chemical composition of straw is similar to that of wood, having practically the same content of carbon and hydrogen. The tests were successful, and it was found that straw works particularly well in producers with reversed burning. The moisture content should not exceed 15 per cent. The average consumption of straw is stated to be about 3 kg. per kilo-watt-hour.
